How to Find Website Backlinks With Yahoo! Site Explorer

Knowing how many websites or blogs link to your own site is an effective way of assessing the popularity of your site and understanding where your visitors come from. Backlinks are important, too, because it’s one of the factors taken into account by Google and other search engines index and rank your site. To search engines, a backlink is a vote of confidence in your site.

An easy way to find out which websites and blogs link to your site is with the free Yahoo! Site Explorer. Just register for a free Yahoo! Account and submit your website’s URL to get a comprehensive backlink report.

Step-by-Step Guide to Finding Website Backlinks in Yahoo! Site Explorer
  1. Go to Siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com in your Web browser.
  2. Type the address of your blog or website into the Yahoo! Site Explorer input box. Make sure you include the “www” bit of the address.
  3. Click Add My Site. Type your Yahoo! ID and password into the input fields to log in to Yahoo! Alternatively, sign in with your Google account or Facebook account by selecting one of these options.
  4. Select My Sites in the left-hand menu.
  5. Click Explore next to the website address for which you want to get the backlink report. If it’s not currently listed, submit the URL in the input field. Wait for Yahoo! to generate the report.
  6. Click Inlinks in the main menu. Read through the list of backlinks to your website.
