Make Your Own Facebook Places Location

Make a custom check-in location
on Facebook Places.

Whether you're in a bar, store or movie theater, the Facebook Places application on Facebook Mobile lets you check-in to specific locations and tag the friends who are with you.

When you check-in to a place, Facebook publishes this information on your timeline and news feed.

Facebook uses the geolocation feature on your smart phone or mobile device to pinpoint your location and find a list of local places to which you can check-in.

If you can't find the correct place in Facebook Place's automatically generated list of nearby locations, create your own check-in location on Facebook Places.

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Your Own Facebook Places Check-In Location

  1. Tap the Check In tab at the top of the Facebook Places screen on your mobile device.
  2. Scroll through the list of local places on the Nearby page.
  3. Tap the Find or Add a Place input box.
  4. Enter a name for the new place into the input box, and then click the Add link at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Type a description of the place into the applicable text field, or skip this step if you don't want to add a description.
  6. Click the Add tab to complete the procedure. Facebook Places stores the new check-in location in the list of local places. Just click Check In to share your attendance with Facebook friends.
